On Friday, January 14th at 5:37pm I had a positive pregnancy test. I couldn't believe my eyes, so I asked Chris to take a look at it for me. Unfortunately he wasn't feeling well that day, but I think the positive made up for all his ill feelings. We hugged and I called my in-laws to tell them when they got to Pizza Hut to let me know because I had something I needed to tell them both. Of course this worried Beth, so she sent messages to Chris and he told her it was good news. (I think they already had it figured out by the time I made it there, but that's okay.) One of the greatest moments in my life happened at that minute. I brought the card I had made over 5 years ago to let them know they were going to be grandparents. Little pink and blue glittery footprints with special delivery stamped all over it. Geoff was so excited he told some distant relation at the next table. Such an awesome feeling it was. I was still a little stunned and asked them not to tell anyone until I had a blood test to confirm it. I think that was the longest weekend ever for all of us. I was bursting at the seems to shout it to the world, but in my head I had to have someone else tell me that it was true.
So Monday morning, on my drive home from work, I called my doctor's office and asked if I could stop by for a blood test to confirm it. My doctor told me, "If you had two positive urine tests you know you are pregnant." I told her I just had to have it to know it was true. She said the tests would not be back until the next day.
So that brings me to today...I already started getting the text messages from Chris and Geoff asking me about the news. I think it's rather funny because Chris always says that "I" am the impatient one. So I called the doctor's office and the nurse said it was positive. She scheduled my first OB appointment (can't hardly even believe it will be in less than a month) for February 7th at 3pm. Yes, that's right, 3 days before my birthday. What better present could there be than seeing my own growing baby in my belly?
So that brings me to the due date...According to the websites I have searched over the last 4 days (and also my OB/Peds rotations in LPN and RN school) my due date should be September 17th, 2011. I couldn't think of a more perfect day either, because that's my grandma's birthday. I sure wish she could be here for it, but I know she is smiling from heaven. As far as whether we are having a boy or a girl...Chris looked up the Chinese calendar and it said we should be having a boy. He also informed me he thinks we should wait to find out and let it be a surprise. I think NOT! This woman cannot wait that long to find out. There are so many things to plan. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself with all this baby news, but it's hard because I've been waiting over 5 years for it.I better sign off for now because I have to get ready for the day and take Chris some lunch. My other babies are currently sleeping on the couch and being lazy with me-not sure if they have any idea what is in store for them. I think Minnie will be super protective and Jack will wonder why he isn't the little prince anymore. Guess he will appreciate it more when I hold him like a baby instead of trying to jump out of my arms. Hope you enjoy the future updates. Let me know if I have forgotten to share anything with you as I am just so excited this day is finally here.
Mommy-to-be,
Angela =)
